Zora Barnett

Zora Barnett, age 76, of Green Mountain, NC went home to be with the Lord September 12, 2023. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Ray and Mary Peterson Barnett.

Zora loved her church family at Covey Rock Freewill Baptist Church. She also enjoyed and attended RHA Center in Burnsville, NC for 28 years. Her hobbies included working puzzles, embroidery, coloring and crafts. She was a people person and never met a stranger.

Survivors include six brothers: Tony Barnett of Lenoir, NC, Coy Barnett of Johnson City, TN, Clay Barnett (Maybelline), of Green Mountain, NC, Owen Barnett (Judy), of Green Mountain, NC, Embert Barnett (Sandra), of Green Mountain, NC, and Lindsey Barnett (Jean), of Green Mountain, NC, seven sisters: Trula Yelton of Bakersville, NC, Opal Jones (Carson), of Burnsville, NC, Frances Gouge, of Jonesborough, TN, Barbara Miller (Larry), of Green Mountain, NC, Oma Jones (Dennis), of Spruce Pine, NC, Mable Robison, of Green Mountain, NC, and Otehia Hollifield (Rick), of Bakersville, NC, and a host of nieces nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by two sisters Josephine Barnett and Zula Yelton, and one brother Noah Barnett.

A private funeral service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverends Kevin Laws and Rick Hollifield officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow the service at Byrd Cemetery (Byrd Creek Rd) Green Mountain, NC all are welcome to attend the graveside service.
