William Ingram Obituary

Dateline: Simpsonville, SC

William Charles "W.C." Ingram, 81, of Simpsonville, South Carolina passed away peacefully in his home on March 4, 2019. Born in Buladean, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Dewey and Mae Street Ingram.

Mr. Ingram was the founder of High Valley Construction Company. He was an instructor at Mayland Community College and served as the department head of the Construction Department.  In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Ingram is best remembered for his proud military service and patriotism, his love and care of all creatures great and small, and his enduring love for his children, granddaughters, and great granddaughter. He was a member of the Bakersville Lodge No. 357, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple.  Additionally, he was member of the DAV Chapter 58 and a long time member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church.

Mr. Ingram is survived by his best friend, confidant, and true love, his wife  of 59 years, Shirley Gouge Ingram of the home and his children, Donna Ingram (Earl) Simmons of Greenville, South Carolina and Mark (Debbie Singleton) Ingram of Chesapeake, Virginia. Additionally, he is survived by his four granddaughters, Ashley Buchanan (Justin) Jones of Elgin, South Carolina, Brooke Ingram (Alex) Chapman of Greenville, South Carolina, Brandi Ingram of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Chey Ingram of Clemson, South Carolina and a great granddaughter, Madeline Jones of Elgin, South Carolina. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joyce Ingram of Buladean, North Carolina and Lois Schaffer of Hanover, Pennsylvania as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his siblings Dewey Ingram, Jr., Clarence Ingram, Dave Ingram, and Georgia Jenkins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, March 9th, 2019 in the chapel at Henline Hughes Funeral Home, 85 Crimson Laurel Way, Bakersville, North Carolina 28705 by the Rev. Don Stafford. Bakersville Masonic Lodge will provide Masonic Rites during the chapel service.  The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. The Sgt EL Randolph Chapter 57 DAV will perform military honors at the burial service at Wylie Gouge Cemetery following the memorial.

In remembrance of Mr. Ingram, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive Tampa, Florida 33607 or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
