Wanda Peterson

Wanda Peterson, beloved sister, aunt, step mother and sister in law, was received into her Lord and Savior's loving arms on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1937 the eldest child of Bob and Frances Peterson. Although, not a biological mother herself, she was a devoted second mother to her five siblings, her nieces, nephews, and step children. She was always there for them no matter the circumstance.

Wanda retired from the banking industry in North Carolina after 40 + years of service. She returned to the beautiful mountains that she loved. She grew beautiful flowers and enjoyed working in them as long as her health allowed. She was an amazing cook and many of her meals were enjoyed by family and friends. In August of 2001 she married Albert Peterson who predeceased her in May 2022. Also predeceasing her were her brother, Ron, her sister Kat, step granddaughter Kimberly, sister in law Carolyn, brothers in law, Willard, Darius and Gene.

Remaining to cherish her precious memory are her sisters, Arlene, Brenda (Tim), Jan (Ronnie), sister in law, Helen (Sam); step children, J.R. (Jeannie), Alan (Cinda), Sandy, and Felecia and a number of great and great-great step grandchildren; nieces, Shawna (Patrick), Jenna (Dan), Sana (Josh), Sherry, Yvonne (Keith), Samantha and Lisa; nephews, Kevin, Kyle, Bobby (Tamera), Duane (Lori), Cameron and her nephews Steve (Joy), Shane (Sara), and Shay (Jill) who were especially helpful to her. A number of great and great-great nieces and nephews and a circle of friends and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and  at other times at Wanda's home. Burial will be in the George Peterson Cemetery. Flowers are welcome and contributions may be made to the Fishery Community Church in Erwin, TN.
