Obituary

Viola Yelton Barnett McIntosh, age 92, went home to Heaven on April 7, 2020. She was born in Mitchell County, NC on December 10, 1927 to the late George and Minnie Yelton. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Barnett, her second husband, Arnold McIntosh, her brother, E.L. Yelton, sisters, Irene Byrd, Faye Byrd and Ruby Ray; step daughter, Lisa Riddle and step grandson, Tyler Cartee.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Yong and husband J.N. Yong, and Nan Simon and husband Jon Simon; step daughter, Renee Cartee and step sons, Keith and Arnold Lee McIntosh; grandchildren: Yvonne Ricciuti, Susan Slone, Alex Yong, Juliet Lippy, Jennifer Kologiski and Adam Simon; great grandchildren: Andrew and Lauren Slone and Jonny Kologiski; brothers: Jack and Wade Yelton; sisters: Marie Barnes, Rosa Lee Byrd, Pheobe Robinson and Sue Ponder; also many nieces and nephews.

She was loved dearly by all her family and many friends. Viola was a member of the West Burnsville Church of God and she will be remembered for her sweet loving care of others and the prayer warrior that she was. She was not only a wonderful mom to her daughters but to her nieces and nephews as well.

A private graveside service will be held at the Garland Cemetery for the immediate family. A memorial service will be held at the West Burnsville Church of God on August 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM.
