Shelby Jean Greene

Shelby Jean Greene, 84, of Fork Mountain Rd, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord August 25, 2021. She was the daughter of the late George and Gladys Whitson Ollis.

She was retired from Spruce Pine Hospital and Home Health where she was a CNA, and  previously worked at Ellen Knitting Mill in supervision, and was also co owner of Mountain Breeze Restaurant. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and also a member of Order of The Eastern Star Roan Mountain Chapter (Bakersville, NC) where she was Past Worthy Matron. 

She loved to travel and traveled to Europe, The Holy Land, and Hershey Pennsylvania in her travels. She also loved her flowers and gardening. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes for her family.

Survivors include: two daughters; Carolyn McKinney (Claude), and Katie Cole (John), all of Bakersville, NC, grandchildren; Amy Young, Adam Woody, Jennifer Parker, and Shaina Burleson, great grandchildren; Evan Briggs, Ayden Woody, Kendal Parker, Mayce Woody, and Hunter Burleson.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Ancle Greene, one brother Scotty Ollis and great grandchild Maggie Young.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverends Mark McKinney, Bruce Cannon, and Buster Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at  Phillips Cemetery (Roy Greene Drive). Due to the covid 19 pandemic the family ask that anyone attending the service bring and wear a mask.
