Romaine Gouge

Romaine Gouge, age 88 of NC 197, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord January 7, 2019. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Earl and Jessie Conley Freeman. She had previously worked for Modern Globe and also at Roan Mountain with The National Forest Service. She was a member of Little Rock Creek Baptist Church and attended Cloudland Baptist church. She loved gardening, flowers, and her family.

Survivors include: two daughters; Kay Gouge (Jim), of Johnson City, TN, and Mildred Charlton, of Bakersville, NC, three sons; Scotty Gouge (Dianna), Richard Gouge (Donna), and Johnny Gouge, all of Bakersville, NC, grandchildren; Chris Gouge, Christina Gouge, Angel Gouge, Mitzi Gouge, Becky Gouge, Elizabeth Gouge, Jonothan Gouge, Caleb Gouge, Mark Peterson, and Matthew Peterson, and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband; Millard Gouge, one sister; Earlene Burleson, and two brothers; James and Darrell Freeman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 8:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Danny Silvers and Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at Gouge Family Cemetery (Gouge Cove Rd).
