Polly Ann (Canipe) Jones

Polly Ann Canipe Jones left for heaven on May 19, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late John and Sallie Webb Canipe and was a 1964 graduate of Bowman High School.

She worked at several different jobs before marriage and two children. When the time was right she decided to try and fulfill her life long dream of becoming a nurse. "She thought she could and she did!" She overcame many obstacles while studying at Mayland Community College and later at Caldwell Technical College, finally graduating with honors and receiving her R.N. license. She used that license over 35 years as an E.R. nurse.

She was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church and walked with her Lord daily. Such love and compassion may never be known again.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Lewis Canipe, a sister, Betty Canipe Blevins; two brothers in law, Charles Blevins and Doug Hobson and a nephew, Mitchell Hobson.

Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of fifty one years, Robert (Buss) Jones, her son, Russell Jones; two daughters, Sally Ann Shultz and husband Jeff and Taylor Renea Jones and friend Isaiah; three grandchildren, Shenna Williams and husband Sam, Jonathan Pendley and Autumn Jones; two great grandchildren Corey Burke and Nevaeh Sky Williams; one sister, Mary Ellen Hobson, and special friends Charlie Banks, Richard Greene, and Dale Pendley; and her little black poodle "Casey Jones".

Polly will be greatly missed but heaven seems nearer, sweeter, more beautiful, and more longed for since she is there. (The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh)

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2023 in the Cub Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Willis and Chaplain Larry Greene officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and burial will be in the Bailey Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
