Nona Cox

Nona L Cox, age 70, of Spruce Pine passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday June 3, 2022 at the Hospice Center in Forest City, NC.

Nona was born on July 14, 1951 in Bakersville, NC, a daughter to Jack and Elizabeth (Toots) Cox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Ralph Murdock.

Left to cherish Nona’s memory are her daughter, January Murdock Howell and husband, Lee. Grandchildren include Pilot, London and Coleman Howell of Rutherfordton, NC. Son, Lucas Edward Murdock of Cashiers, NC. Sister, Debby Cox Woodie and husband, Daniel. Family includes Hope Teaster and husband, Brian, and Samuel Woodie and wife, Sarah and son, Silas of Avery County, NC. Brother, Jack Cox, Jr. and wife, Linda and family, Eric Cox, Travis Cox and wife, Emily and daughter Nora. Brother Sam Cox and wife, Teresa. Sister, Kathy Cox Annis and family, Carson Annis and wife, Jessica, Sons, Zane and Chance, and Kala Annis Leyva and husband, Alfred and daughter, Bella.

Nona leaves behind a wealth of cherished friends. We are thankful to each one of you for your kindness, love and support shown to Nona over the last few years.

A celebration of Nona’s life is planned for July 15, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Lavonia Crest, 500 Green Creek Road, Bakersville, NC 28705.
