Nina (Buchanan) Stewart

Nina Buchanan Stewart, age 85 of South Hwy 226, Bakersville, NC (Ledger Community), went home to be with the Lord January 9, 2019. A native of Mitchell County, NC she was a daughter of the late Homer P. and Zora Buchanan. She was a 75 year member of Bear Creek Baptist Church where she served in the Something Special Sunday School Class. She was a true prayer warrior in the community.  She was previously employed with Hampshire Hosiery and Mitchell County Senior Citizen Center in the cafeteria. 

Survivors include: one son; Randal Stewart (Linda), of Bakersville, NC, one daughter; Janie Yelton (James "Buster"), of Spruce Pine, NC, grandchildren; Andy Stewart (Skylar), of Spruce Pine, NC, Adina Bair (John), of Oak Island, NC, Kyle Stewart (Kimberly), of Celo, NC, and Tabitha Robinson (Billy), of Spruce Pine, NC, great grandchildren: Haven Moore, Gabby Moore, Harper Stewart, and soon to be great grandson Atticus Cameron Bair.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband; James Stewart, grandson; Matthew Stewart, sisters; Irene Rowland, Valerie "Coot" Blackburn,  Kate Pittman, and a brother; Everett Buchanan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 4:00PM in Bear Creek Baptist Church with Reverends Dale Buchanan, Buster Yelton, Vernon Buchanan, Andrew McKinney, and Bruce Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Bear Creek Mausoleum.
