Meriam Eileen (Whitson) Boone

Meriam Eileen Whitson Boone, 85, of Old Fort, NC passed into the presence of our Lord on April 2, 2024. Born at Rose's Branch and raised in Mitchell County, she was born December 29, 1938 to Clyde and Carrie Whitson, and graduated from Tipton Hill High School in 1957.

Eileen married Brown Stephen Boone of Burnsville in May 1957 and they were married for 67 years. Mrs. Boone possessed a natural talent for sewing and had many customers that allowed her to be a stay-at-home wife and mother to her three children: Mrs. Anita Church of Elk Park, Mrs. Sharon Klingenschmidt (Roger) of Red Springs, and Mr. Mark Boone (Wendy) of Bakersville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mr. Matthew Boone (Chelsea) of Marion, Mrs. Rebecca Cole (Andrew), and Mr. Daniel Klingenschmidt of Red Springs. Miss Madilyn Faye Boone is her first great grandchild.

Mrs. Boone was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Clyde Whitson (2001) and Carrie Whitson (1986), her brother, Mr. Ellis Whitson (2012), and her son in law, Mr. Lowell Bryant Church (2021).

Mrs. Boone worked at Modern Globe in Bakersville, and at Baxters in North Cove while maintaining a home, a garden, and being active in the church choir and Sunday School throughout her life. Eileen took great pride in cooking and taking care of her family.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, especially to Sherry Towery and Christian Hendley for their professional and loving care of our dear wife and mother. Thanks be to God for the life of Meriam Eileen Whitson Boone.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Buchanan and Rev. Dwight Boone Jr officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior the service. Burial will follow the service in the Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.
