Obituary for Mr. Lee Edward Silvers

Lee Edward Silvers, age 86, was a loving husband, father, brother, and Paw. He left this world with his family by his side on Saturday, May 6, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with bladder cancer.

Lee was born on April 16, 1937 to the late Claude and Mary Silvers of the Bandana community. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he came home and married Shirley Ledford  on December 22, 1962.  Together they had two children: Rodney and Eddie Silvers.

Lee loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking long walks. He was also a huge Carolina Tarheels fan, and enjoyed watching games with his sons. He was an avid collector of baseball cards.

Preceding Lee in death includes his parents, Claude and Mary Silvers;  sisters, Barbara Howell and Ann Buchanan; and brother Dean Silvers.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Ledford Silvers; sons Rodney (Liz) Silvers and Eddie (Stacy); grandchildren Taylor Silvers (Lauren),  Ella Silvers, and Austin Bass; and brother Dennis Silvers (Betty). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 9th. Receiving of friends and family will begin at 2:00, followed by the funeral services at 3:00 pm at Chapel of Henline Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, NC. Reverend Brandon Pitman will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Cane Creek Cemetery with Sgt. EL Randolph Chapter 57 DAV providing military honors.
