James Allen "Jim" Grindstaff, age 72 of North Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Bakersville, NC passed away October 2, 2014 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, NC, he was a son of the late Joseph and Geneva McLemore Grindstaff. Jim was retired from a career in construction where he owned and operated Grindstaff Roofing for over 40 years. He operated his business throughout Western North Carolina and made many friends over the years. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include; three daughters; Sandy Hoover (Gary), of Micaville, NC, Tammy Boyd (Eddie), of Marion, NC, and Kim Elliot (Jeff), of North Myrtle Beach SC, two sisters; Nita Buchanan (Jerry), and Betty McKinney, both of Bakersville, NC, two brothers; Roger Grindstaff, of Bakersville, NC, and David Grindstaff, of Charlotte, NC, seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren, special nephew, Joey Yelton, of Bakersville, NC, and special friends, Jack and Libby Graham, of North Myrtle Beach, SC.

He was preceded in death by; two sisters; Jessie Stamey, and Ima Jean Childers, and a grandson, Zachary Scott Hoover.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Cane Creek Cemetery.
