Gloria (Crisco) Drake

Gloria Doris Crisco Drake 85, of Bakersville NC, passed away on June 23, 2021 with her family by her side. Gloria was born on March 9, 1936 in Salisbury NC and was the daughter of Roy McIver Crisco and Pauline Mary Trexler Crisco. Gloria was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Robinette and her two daughters Robin Elizabeth Drake and Margaret (Meg) Cynthia Drake. Gloria is survived by husband Cleo “Clark” Drake, son Douglas and wife Lori, two daughters Julie Bigham and Paula Deese and her seven grandchildren, Sarah Chacon (Brandin), Mark Drake, Tanner Bigham, Allison Williams, Kristen Cameron (Andrew), Ava Bigham and Shelby Bigham. 

Gloria was a graduate of AL Brown High School class of 1954. Gloria and Clark were married September 1, 1957. She spent her life serving as an Army Officer’s wife and the devoted mother to her 5 children. She worked several jobs in her life while supporting her husband in their many moves across the country. She was an accomplished cook, seamstress, artist and gardener. She enjoyed cooking and canning food from her garden. Her home, as well as the homes of her children, are filled her legacy of art works. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend of many, Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and support given during Gloria’s illness.

 A memorial to honor Gloria’s life will be held August 14, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Church, 1717 Harrell Hill Road, Bakersville, NC.

On Gloria father's side she was the granddaughter of John Dee Eles Crisco and Francis Ellen Petra, great granddaughter of Adam D Crisco and Mary Catherine Whitley. On Gloria’s mother side she was the granddaughter Wilburn Tilden Trexler and Atha Francis Snider. Great granddaughter of Jacob Trexler and Julier Fritz Butner.
