Gary Miller Obituary

Gary Leonard Miller was born on June 22, 1946, the son of the late Jack Leonard and Vertie Ledford Miller, in Baltimore, Md. He spent much of his youth in Baltimore County with cherished summer vacation time in the Bakersville, NC area with his grandparents Smith and Geneva Ledford. He attended Kenwood High School in Baltimore. He then sought employment in North Carolina where he worked a construction job. He returned to Baltimore to accept a job with the Sparrows Point Ship Yard. Gary worked at Sparrows Point for 30 years as an shipyard laborer until he retired. During those years he met his wife, Margaret Peterson. They were married in 1984 and celebrated 36 years together raising their 2 daughters Tina Peterson Schuch and Stacy Peterson Wood. After retiring, Gary and Margaret resided at their home in Middle River, Md for 25 years until they relocated to Stokesdale, NC in 2014 to be closer to other family members who had returned to the state of his family origin. Gary loved many things but most of all he loved spending time with his family and extended family and greeting anyone he met with genuine affection and a big hearty grin.

Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Smith and Geneva Ledford and Vena Holder, and his parents, Jack and Vertie Miller. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, his daughters Tina Schuch and husband Karl of Dundalk, Md and Stacy Wood and partner Heath Leuschel of North East, Md; sisters: Patricia Miller Hart and husband Howard of Glen Ayer, NC, Linda Miller Rosselle and husband Donald (deceased) of Summerfield, NC, and Kymberly Miller Luby and husband Dan of Stokesdale, NC.
