Fred Hughes

Dateline, Bakersville, NC

Fred Allen Hughes, age 79 of Johnson Hollow Rd, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord October 4, 2023. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Claude and Velcie Fouch Hughes.

Fred was previously employed with Henredon Furniture and Ethan Allen Furniture. He was a member of Silver Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and tinkering on small engines.

Survivors include his daughter Melissa Hughes Jackson (David), of Fort Payne, Alabama, one son Allen David Hughes (Terri), of Spruce Pine, NC, one granddaughter Jessie Laws (Josh), and one great grandchild Gabe Laws.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jim Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Thacker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
