Deward Scott Sparks

Deward Scott Sparks, age 93, of Bakersville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Jesse and Carrie Byrd Sparks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Sparks Osborne. Deward loved his family, the outdoors and his special cat, Max.

 Survivors include his wife, Charlene Thomas Sparks; daughters: Revonda Holliday (James) of Greer, SC, Kandra Greene (Bob) of Winston Salem, NC, Deborah Knight of Mooresville, NC, and Marcheita Sparks of  Salt Lake, UT; sisters: Marilyn Queen of Unicoi, TN and Theresa Murdock of Newland, NC; grandchildren: Todd Holliday, Andrea Bloom, Jason Greene, Justin Greene, Megan Newbeaur, Keenan Knight, Kaitlyn Knight, Rose Ashley Osborne, Adam Pendlebury, Blair Robertson, and Wills Pendlebury; great grandchildren: Grant and Sam Holliday, Deward Bloom, Avery and Bryce Greene, Wyatt and Hudson Newbeauer, and Jack Pendlebury.

 Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2021 in the Little Rock Creek Baptist Church, 48 Green Creek Rd, Bakersville, with Rev. Phil Murdock officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Bailey Cemetery, John Sparks Road. The family request that everyone who attends the service wear a mask and observe the necessary precautions.
