Obituary

David Dale 92, of Denver, N.C. went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 9th, 2022.

David was born September 28th, 1930, in Spruce Pine, N.C., to Fred and Agnes Washburn Dale, where he was one of 7 children. He graduated from Harris High School and attended Brevard College where he played football. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard of N.C. Reserves and Air National Guard of N.C. as Master Sergeant where he retired after 31 years.

David made his home in Denver, N.C. after living in Charlotte, N.C. and Bakersville, N.C. He faithfully served as a leader and deacon in many churches including, Hillcrest and Mulberry Baptist in Charlotte, Roan Mountain Baptist in Bakersville, and Westport Baptist in Denver, N.C.

As a member of Gideons International, spreading the Gospel of Jesus was especially important to David who enjoyed fellowship as much as service. He was very active in the community, serving a as Town Alderman in Bakersville, the Hospice Board of Mitchell County and a Representative to the Senior Council on Aging.

David loved God, Jean, his wife of 65 years and his family. He embodied Christ by loving and serving others and his generosity was second to none. Known for his quick wit, he always had a joke on the tip of his tongue to make people laugh. He loved music and found joy in the church choir for many years. He took great pride in developing a skill of refinishing antiques for family and friends. Many of us are blessed to own pieces of his handiwork that we will treasure.

Most importantly, David lived a life of faith and love that provided an example for generations to follow.

David is survived by his loving wife Jean Dale; two daughters Amy Giles and her husband Alan of Gastonia, N.C., Mary Beth Smith and her husband Greg of Iron Station, N.C.; five granddaughters Amy Lynch (Timothy) of Pikesville, Maryland, Stephanie Bond (Nathan) of Matthews, N.C., Elizabeth Tackett of Charlotte, N.C., Emily Lehman, (Philip) of Signal Mountain, TN., Molly Langley, (Joseph) of Belmont, N.C. and thirteen great grandchildren; and his brother Daniel Dale, (Nancy) of St. Helena Island, S.C.
