Billy Scott "Bill" Bennett

Billy Scott "Bill" Bennett, age 72, of Herb McKinney Road, Bakersville, NC, passed away November 24, 2010 at his residence.  A native of Mitchell County, NC, he was the son of the late Sam and Nettie Edwards Bennett.  He had worked as a Heavy Machine Operator and attended Roan Mountain Baptist Church.  He loved babysitting his grandchildren, gardening, and the outdoors.

Survivors include:  his wife, Betty Jean McKinney Bennett of the home, sons, Darryl Cecil Bennett, Roger Bennett, Billy Bennett and wife Cindy all of Bakersville, NC, daughter, Susie Bennett of Bakersville, NC, brothers, Lee and Clay Bennett both of Bakersville, NC, sisters, Betty Honeycutt and Jeri Whitson both of Burnsville, NC, grandchildren, Darren and Rebecca Gardner, Ethan Harris, Kayla, Dillon, Amber, Austin, Shaylee, and Taylor Bennett, great grandchildren, Rylie Bennett, Garrett and Jonathan Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by:  sister, Evelyn Ray, brothers, Jack, Glen, Ray, Jr., and James Bennett.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2:30PM in the Roan Mountain Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Mark McKinney, Russell McKinney, Tony McKinney, and Timmy Wyatt will be officiating the service.  Interment will follow in the Green Young Cemetery.
