William "Bill" Pitman, age 76 of Hwy 226 South, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord September 17, 2018. He was a son of the late Bill and Carrie McKinney Pitman, and a native of Mitchell County, NC. He was a graduate of Bowman High School, worked with PET milk delivery for 21 years, and was the owner/operator of Bakersville Quick Mart for 23 years. Bill also worked with Mitchell County Recycling Center. His passion was golfing and watching the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include: his loving wife; Jamie Howell Pitman, son; Michael "Mike" Pitman (Chris), of Marion, NC, daughter; Lisa Austin; (Mark), of Bakersville, NC, brother; Jerry Pitman (Becky), of Bakersville, NC, four grandchildren; Cari Leigh Pitman, Michael Austin, Morgan Austin, and Johnathan Pitman.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: a grandson; Logan Michael Pitman, brothers; Tim Pitman and Kenneth "Potty" Pitman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 3:00PM in Mine Creek Baptist Church with Chris Rathbone, Mark McKinney, and Russell McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mine Creek Cemetery Grindstaff Annex (Bakersville Cemetery Rd).
