William "Bill" Greene, age 95, of Hwy 261, Bakersville, NC passed away May 6, 2023. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Roy William and Pansy May Slagle Greene. Bill was retired as a Millwright Worker in construction. He attended Fork Mountain Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed fixing and selling cars and attending flea markets.

Survivors include his wife Betty Penix Greene of the home, six children: Linda McKinney (Roman) of Johnson City, TN, Debra Sue Burnett of Kyle Texas, William "Billy" Greene (Amelia Dale) of Jonesborough, TN, Lana Kay Whitehead (Michael) of Bakersville, NC, Rodney Dale Greene (Rita) of Spruce Pine, NC, and Tammy Houser (Tom) of Bakersville, NC, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother JW Greene.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00PM until 3:00PM in Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the receiving of friends at Burleson Cemetery on Gouge Cove Rd with Reverend John McKinney officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of The Blue Ridge 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
