William "Bill" D. Hollifield Jr., age 84 of Ridge Rd. Spruce Pine, NC passed away September 13, 2016. Around 6:45PM, the Hollifield family lost a devoted husband of 62 years, a loving father, proud grandfather, and a friend and role model to many. Bill took pleasure in many things in life, one of those being his love of gardening, and sharing the fruits of his labor with many of his friends and family. However, above all else, he found his pride and joy in his three grandchildren, Christy Peterson, Cameron, and Tyler Hollifield, and his only great grandchild, Connor Peterson.

He was a son of the late William Hollifield Sr. and Ruth Wiseman Hollifield. Bill was retired as owner/operator of Parkway Used Auto Parts.

Survivors include: his wife; Ellen D. Hollifield, of the home, one daughter; Vickie Boone (Charles), of Spruce Pine, NC, one brother; Bub Hollifield, of Marion, NC, and one sister; Darlene Kerns (Bryce), of Unicoi, TN.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: a son; Randy Hollifield, and two brothers; Charles and Tommy Hollifield.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Luther Carver and Tommy Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
