Wilkie Allen Buchanan , 71, of Johnson City,TN, passed away on Saturday, August 17 ^th , 2013 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Bakersville,NC, he was the son of  Dorothy Stamey Buchanan of Bakersville and the late Otis Buchanan. He was a graduate of Bowman High School in Bakersville. Wilkie was a self employed car salesman and also had worked for the Thorp Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Cane Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville and attended the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Wilkie was also preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Staton.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are: his wife, Christine Honeycutt Buchanan; son, Wendell W. Buchanan and wife Robin of Blountville, TN; sister, Mary Syska and husband Don of Port Huron, MI; brother, Larry Buchanan of Bakersville;  grandchildren: Ryan, Rachel, Codie, Marshall and Kaden Buchanan; great grandchildren: Darrin and Jolene Buchanan.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 20 ^th , 2013 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Jones and Paul Crowe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Buchanan Family, 1706 East Fairview Ave., Johnson City, TN 37601.
