Wayne Douglas Garland, age 65, Bakersville , NC , went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 18, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late Clyde and Marie Hoilman Hopson. Wayne loved being with family and friends. He loved and enjoyed serving the Lord with his church family at the Cane Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Wayne was a retired construction worker. He loved life and brought a smile to all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Josie Banks Garland of their home; his son, Timothy Wayne Garland and wife Amanda of Bakersville; sisters: Brenda Garland and husband Eddie, Kay Mosley and husband Larry, all of Bakersville; adopted sisters: Wanda Hope Yelton and Linda Gouge of Bakersville; brother, Scott Hopson and wife Susan of Nebo, NC; grandson, Zeke Miller; and nephew, Ben Mosley.

Funeral services will be 8:00 pm Monday, August 21, 2017 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Lonnie McClellan officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in the L.G. Gouge Memorial Cemetery , Hwy 226 N, Bakersville , NC .
