DATELINE; BURNSVILLE , NC

Walt Peterson, age 76 of State Hwy 197N Burnsville , NC passed away March 22, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Clayton and Lassie Barnett Peterson. He was retired as a Loader Operator at Unimin Corporation.

Survivors include: his wife; Joyce Osborne Peterson, of the home, a son; Rodney Peterson, of Burnsville, NC, five sisters; Nora McCurry and Janie Jones, of Green Mountain, NC, Donna Briggs, of Burnsville, NC,  Ann Osborne of Erwin, TN , and Elva Bennett, of PA, one brother; Mack Peterson, of Green Mountain, NC, two step daughters; Crystal Robinson, and Rhonda Street, both of Burnsville, NC, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by; three sisters; Maxie Bennett, Carmer Peterson, and Julia Peterson, and two brothers; Alvin Peterson and Jay Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Tipton Griffith Cemetery .
