Obituary

Virginia Thomas Byrd, age 85 of Bakersville , NC passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. She was the daughter of the late Cloyd and Pearl Greene Thomas and the wife of the late Rex Wayne Byrd. Virginia was also preceded in death by two sisters: Lucille Howell and Merle Wilson and brothers: Jack, Jim, Bob and Bill Thomas. She was a retired secretary for International Mineral Corp. in Spruce Pine, NC and a member of the Bakersville Baptist Church .

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Ann Byrd of Bakersville; her son, Kenneth Wayne Byrd and wife Cindy of Hendersonville, NC; brother, Danny Thomas of Bakersville; sister, Louise Weeks of Rutherfordton, NC.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in the Bakersville Baptist Church with Rev. William Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:20 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Bakersville Memorial Cemetery . Memorials may be made to the Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 South Allen Road , Flat Rock, NC 28731.
