Virgie Estelle Burleson, age 89 of Bakersville , NC passed away June 8, 2016 at Johnson City Medical Center . She was a native of Salem Virginia and a daughter of the late Milton and Alta Pearl Cochran Thomas. She attended Fork Mountain Baptist Church and was retired as a bookkeeper for Burleson Shell Station in Ft. Lauderdale , Florida .

Survivors include; a grandson; Paul Burleson, of Wilson, NC, a granddaughter; Tammy D'Ambrosio, of Peoria, Arizona, one sister; Mona Turman, of Salem, Virginia, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by; her husband; Sherrill Weaver Burleson, and one son; Ronnie Burleson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 4:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Tommy Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Burleson Cemetery .
