Thelma Whitson Street , 89, of Bakersville, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Trinity Place in Albemarle , NC .  She was the daughter of the late Clayton and Dollie Peterson Whitson and the wife of the late Loy Street who passed away in 2003. Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her flowers, yard and garden. Playing rook with her friends was her favorite past time. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love of playing jokes on others. She was a member of the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church .

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Crowder of Spruce Pine; sons: Phillip Street and wife Patsy of Stanfield, NC and William 'Bill' Street and wife Helen of Ocean Isle, NC; brother, Lloyd Whitson of Monroe, NC; grandchildren: Scott Street, Todd Street, Cody Crowder and Casey Crowder; great grandchildren: Hunter Street, Tanner Street and Ella Grace Street. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Edna Byrd, Lee Whitson and Brown Whitson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Paul Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Place , 24724 Hwy 52 South, Albemarle , NC 28001 .
