Thelma McKinney Buchanan, age 93 of Hwy NC 80 Bakersville, NC passed away February 19, 2016 at Brian Center Health and Rehab. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Robert and Lucy Grindstaff McKinney. She was a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church and also attended Berry Chapel Baptist Church . She was retired from Henredon Furniture and had also worked at Ellen Knitting Mill, and Southern Pottery.

Survivors include: one son; Gary Buchanan and wife Lib, of Hendersonville, NC, a daughter in law; Jan Buchanan, of Bakersville, NC, one sister; Faye Garland, of Greer, SC, five grandchildren; Kim Jester, Mickey Buchanan, Travis Buchanan, Shawn Buchanan, and Noah Buchanan, and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; Quentin Lloyd Buchanan Sr., two sisters, Emma Lee Gage, and Zella Mae Thomas, two brothers; Wayne and Glenn McKinney, one son; Quentin Lloyd Buchanan Jr., one grandchild; Gabriel Buchanan, and one great grandchild; Skylar Buchanan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Steve Williams and Larry Joe Green officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Mine Creek Cemetery .
