Mr. Terry Vann Sparks, age 70, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Atrium Health Union.

A time to gather and remember Terry will take place 3:00 PM Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Living Praise Christian Ministries, 2691 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC, 28110. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Rick Hudson.

Terry was born December 20, 1950, in Mitchell Co., NC, the son of the late Eli Solan Sparks and Emma Buchanan Sparks. From a young age, Terry entertained those around him. His smile brought brightness into the lives of others, and his athletic ability was displayed on the basketball court at the high school and college level. A graduate of UNC-Pembroke, Terry was an intelligent man that was well-spoken. Witty as he was smart, he could always provide a quick comeback that would leave a smile on your face. Throughout his career, Terry was an expert in heavy equipment sales. He spent many years working for Mitchell Distributing Company. When he was not working, he enjoyed the outdoors. Being on a mountaintop or out on the water was a time in which Terry felt closer to God, as he appreciated the beauty of all creation. Terry also enjoyed the open road, and spent many afternoons riding around Union County with his wife, Jan. Married for 45 years, their humor provided laughter to friends and family. They never went to bed mad at each other, and always took the time to say "I love you". A man who appreciated life, laughter, and love, Terry will be truly missed and fondly remembered.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jan Sparks, his sister, Janie Hensley (Bob), his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Terry is also survived by many friends and a special buddy.
