Ted Stevenson, 84, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, July 24, 2015 at home.  Born March 22, 1931 he was a native of Mitchell County .  He was the son of the late Joe and Electa Stevenson.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Stevenson.  He was also preceded in death by six siblings.  Ted was a member of Cane Creek FWB Church where he served with love as a teacher and deacon.  He will be remembered by his family and friends for his dedication to Christ, his love for his family, and his compassion towards all who knew him.

Surviving are his daughter, Rita Garland; a son, Gene Stevenson; two grandsons, Rodney Garland and wife Jennifer, Shannon Garland and wife Amy; and four cherished great grandchildren, Chase, Tucker, Colby, and Faith Garland, all of Bakersville.  Also surviving are three sisters: Ann Brewer of Marion , NC and Pearl Billey and Helen Hanson both of San Dimas , CA .

Private funeral services will be held for immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to  Hospice of Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive , Spruce Pine , NC 28777 .
