Stephen Paul (Steve) Buchanan, age 59 of Kingsport, TN formerly of Bakersville, NC passed away October 18, 2016 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Mitchell County, NC he was a son of the late Phil and Lillian Smith Buchanan.

He was a Veteran of The United States Army 82nd Airborne Division and was a Certified Mechanic at Ford Motor Company. He was of the Baptist Faith, a member of the NRA, and enjoyed racing, football, and working on cars.

Survivors include: his son; Justin Buchanan, of Alabama, two sisters; Patricia Jones (Ernest Gene), of Knoxville, TN, and Phyllis Bentley, of Granite Falls, NC, two brothers; Billy Buchanan (Louella), of Bakersville, NC, and Bobby Buchanan (Kathy), of Newton, NC, four nephews, and five nieces.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 2016 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00PM in White Oak Baptist Church with Larry Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Green Young Cemetery with DAV Sgt. EL Randolph Chapter 57 conducting full military honors.
