Sherrill Douglas "Doug" McCourry, 68, of Green Mountain, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the St Joseph Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was the son of the late Harrison and Marie Sparks McCourry and the owner of Bear Auto Sales in Burnsville, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Peterson McCourry, brothers: Shoddy and Buddy McCourry and sister, Louise Harr.

Survivors include two daughter: Sherry McCourry of  Tarpon Springs, FL and Julie Robinson of Burnsville, NC; sons: Michael McCourry and Jerry Peterson both of Green Mtn, Eddie H. McCourry and Jerome Peterson both of Burnsville, Chuck McCourry of Marion, NC and Scott McCourry of Morganton, NC; sisters: Bootsie Butler and Rose Price both of Florida; brother, Harrison McCourry Jr. of Bakersville; and 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 8 pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be 2 pm Sunday in the Tipton Hill Cemetery in Green Mtn, NC.
