Shelby Jean Street, 77, of Bakersville, NC, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2026. A native of Mitchell County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Bristoe and Ethel Stanley Yelton.

Shelby dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. Her deep faith led her to be an active member of Grace Baptist Church, where she cherished the fellowship of her church family. She found joy in cooking, camping, and shopping.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Street, and her son, Jimmy Street. Shelby also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, along with dear friends Cathy Craigo, Diane Miller, and Debbie Henline. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George and James Yelton, and sisters Juanita Shuffler, Edith Street, and Marie Morgan.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, with Pastor Lance Riddle officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green Young Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Brian Shuffler, Ted Street, Allen Yelton, Adam Cain, Jeremiah Johnson, Andy Burleson, and Ron Lester. The family requests memorial donations be made to Grace Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
