Shelby Jean Greene, of Bakersville, NC passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at her home the day after her 80th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Park and Ruth Buchanan Hobson. She loved her membership with the Bakersville Eastern Star and she had a great talent to sing for her family and friends. The following are a few thoughts she had written down: "I enjoyed my thirty years in Wilson, NC, seeing my grandchildren Caitlin and Chad grow up and finish college. They were my life. Moving back to the mountains was great. God gave me a talent to sing and I have used it. My church comes first and I love the ladies bible studies and the fellowship. My favorite bible verse is Psalm 100".

Survivors include her husband, Buster Greene; sons: Todd Greene and wife Taryn of Lake Mary, FL and Brian Greene of Salter Path, NC; grandchildren: Caitlyn Greene and Chadwick Greene.
