Scotty Ray Ollis, 73, of the Fork Mountain Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home. He was the son of the late George and Gladys Whitson Ollis. Scotty was the past president of the Garment Workers Union in Maryland , a charter member of the Bakersville Farmers Market, a member and  Sunday School Superintendent of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Mitchell County Senior Center 's Meals-on-wheels program for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eric Ollis.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Peterson Ollis of the home; son, Timothy Ollis of Reisterstown, MD; daughter, Carol Crowder and husband Junior of Greenville, TN; sister, Jean Greene of Bakersville; 5 grandchildren: Justin Ollis, Jessica Ollis, Kristopher Crowder, Mary Crowder and Samantha Crowder; three great grandchildren and 2 special nieces: Carolyn McKinney and Katie Cole.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Mark McKinney, Harold Grindstaff and Jacob Willis officiating. The  family will receive friends two hours prior the service at the funeral home. Burial will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Gouge Cemetery .
