Dateline Spruce Pine, NC

Samuel (Sammy) Allen Freeman age 67 of Larkin Lane, Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord, with his loving wife of 49 years by his side holding his hand May 22, 2023. A native of Mitchell County, NC he was a son of the late Jack and Mary Lee Moore Freeman.

He was previously employed at Henredon Furniture and retired from Sibelco Corporation. He was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a faithful Christian and a good provider for his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years Cathy Lynn Pitman Freeman, one sister Glenda Ward of Nebo, NC, and three sisters in law Alma Pitman (Tommy), of Spruce Pine, NC, and Kay Freeman of Spruce Pine, NC, and Doris Freeman also of Spruce Pine, NC.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his two brothers Dickie and Billy Freeman.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 26, 2023 at 4:00PM in Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Cass Buchanan and Reverend Holt Whitson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private Interment will follow at Freedom Gardens Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of The Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive Spruce Pine, NC 28777 or Mitchell County Animal Rescue.
