Roy Vernon Buchanan age 82 of Spruce Pine, NC passed away January 30, 2024.

He was a son of the late Sam and Bertie Robinson Buchanan. Vernon loved the outdoors and especially loved his horses and animals at his farm at Double Island. He went daily to care for his animals and enjoy his farm. He was a farrier by trade and was a master at his craft.

He had many jobs over the years but his heart was always in his work shoeing. He enjoyed going to swap meets and traveling to visit his friends in Sugar Creek Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude, Edison, Lealon, Marvin, Emory, and Ray Buchanan; and sisters, Elsie Cassida, June Laws, Glenna Dellinger and Annie Dover.

Vernon is survived by his wife Angela Buchanan, brother Jack Buchanan (Doris) stepson Jason "Scotty" Justice (Vicky) and his grandson Tristan Justice who lovingly called him his Dern Pap, and numerous nieces and nephews cousins and friends.

Per his request no services will be held. Burial will be at First Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery on Tempie Mountain Road in Spruce Pine, NC. Henline Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
