Obituary

Rose Wise, 94, of Bakersville, NC passed away on August 7th, 2024 peacefully at his home, He was the son of the late Susie Dellinger Wise and Carl Wise. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth, who passed away in 2021. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Bell Pittman and Nell McGee and one brother Charlie Wise.

Rose was dedicated preacher and pastor for many years. He pastored several churches in Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey counties. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a jack-of-all-trades, But his greatest compassion was telling others about Jesus. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is a last in the presence of the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife of 71 years.

Surviving are his children, two daughters, Patsy Ward and her husband David, who he loved like a son, Pam Wise, and one son Randy Wise all of Bakersville. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Janet Staton and her husband Dale of Bakersville, and Travis Ward and his wife Mandy of Burnsville, and two great grandsons, who he loved dearly, Sam Staton and Grayson Ward.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM  at Henline-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Reverends Kenneth Forbes and Randy Wise will officiate. A eulogy will be given by his great grandson Sam Staton. He was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Cane Creek Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or to Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge.
