BAKERSVILLE - Ron Vinson, 78, of Bee Branch Road died unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday July 11th, at his home. He was the son of the late DE Vinson and Ruth (Blevins) Vinson. He is survived by his wife Mary (Tipton) Vinson, son Cabe, daughter Nina, brother Don, and many cousins, family, and friends.  A native of Bakersville, Ron received degrees from Berea College, Vanderbilt University, and Union Theological Seminary. A marriage and family therapist for over 25 years in Atlanta, he was also a workshop leader, mentor, teacher, writer, and naturalist. Ron's unique mind, heart, and spirit will be celebrated at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Asheville (off Charlotte Street) on Sunday August 7th at 3pm. At a later date, his ashes will be scattered at a smaller ceremony at the Masters family cemetery on Bee Branch Road (please contact Henline-Hughes Funeral Home for details). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.
