DATELINE; BAKERSVILLE , NC

Ronald O. Greene, age 73 of Valley View Drive, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, March 19, 2015 . He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Oscar and Ruth Buchanan Greene. He was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church and was previously employed in construction work. He was also the owner and operator of Bakersville Laundromat. He loved bluegrass music and could play any stringed instrument, but his favorite was his mandolin. He was a self taught musician.

Survivors include; one daughter Rhonda Garrett of Mt. Dora, Florida, three stepdaughters; Cheryl Wise of Bakersville, NC, Donna Ezell of Marion, NC, and Kimberly Dienert of Raleigh, NC, one stepson Bill Poteat of Marion, NC, three sisters; Eula Greene, Carol Weatherman, and Billie Thomas all of Bakersville, NC, two step grandchildren; Chad Wise and Stephanie Hoilman, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother James David Greene.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Henline - Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3:00PM in Roan Mountain Baptist Church with Tim Fowler and Mark McKinney officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wilson Young Cemetery .
