Robert Thomas Staubitz, age 85, of Bakersville, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in St Joseph Hospital, Asheville, NC. He was a native of Sykesville, MD and the son of the late Wilson and Dorothy Redmond Staubitz. He was a US Army veteran, an avid NASCAR fan, and he attended the Fork Mtn Church of Jesus Christ and he will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Armstrong and brothers, George and Wilson Staubitz.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Garland Staubitz of the home; daughter, Melissa Gortney (Randy) of Bakersville; son, Jeffrey Staubitz (Melissa) of Spruce Pine; sisters: Janie Ferguson, Gloria Seal, Betty Wright and Francis Miller; brothers: Wallace Staubitz and Charles Staubitz; grandchildren: Jacob Gortney, Adam Gortney, Autumn Staubtiz, Ethan Staubtiz, Emily Staubitz and Cecilia Anderson.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 3, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm in the Fork Mtn Church of Jesus Christ. The funeral will follow with Todd Ayers and G B Garland officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Fork Mtn Cemetery.
