Obituary

Rinda Gail Odom, age 90 of Newland, NC passed away Wednesday August 5, 2026 at her residence. Born in McDowell County, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Elsworth Franklin Massey and Fannie Sue Hughes Massey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Allen Odom, a daughter Jeanne Odom, sister, Frankie Thompson and four brothers, Frank, David, Mack and Gary Massey.

Rinda worked in housekeeping for Cannon Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Dinah Cuthbertson of Pineola, Nina Odom of Spruce Pine, Tina Odom of Newland and Denia Odom-York of Elk Park, and a sister Phyllis Ann Arrowood of Holly Springs, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cain Wise, Crocket Cuthbertson, Brandon English (Erin), Nyoka Potter (Scott), Joey Johnson, Holly Hoilman (Bryan), Kevin McKeehan (Heather) and Kasey York. Great grandchildren, Mia Mattern, Salem Wise, Cropper Cuthbertson, Bryce, Laiken and Charlie English, Keegan, Kaden and Korie Johnson, Addison and Eli Hoilman, a great great grandson Easton Chancey and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rinda Gail Odom will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday August 8, 2026 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Slippery Hill Cemetery.

Henline-Hughes Funeral Service of Bakersville, NC have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Odom.
