Richard Allen Young, age 55 of Hamburg Rd , Bakersville , NC passed away April 4, 2017 . He was a son of the late Dallas and Dorothy Edwards Young and a native of Mitchell County, NC. He was previously employed by Unimin Corp in quality control.

He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and a graduate of Mitchell High School . He loved Turkey Hunting with his son and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was a devoted father.

Survivors include: his wife Phyllis Polly Young, of the home, a son; Jacob Allen Young, of the home, one brother; Ed Young (Dee), of Spruce Pine, NC, one sister; Diane Hise (Bob), of Spruce Pine, NC, brother in law, Cecil Polly,several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Ricky Ray officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green Young Cemetery .
