Richard Lewis McKinney, age 74, of Sandston, VA, formerly of Bakersville, NC passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 in the McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of the late Romie and Sallie McKinney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McKinney; brother, Jerry McKinney and a sister, Christine Bennett. Lewis was a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheena Simpson of Oxford, NC; step children, Randal Street of Bakersville and Vicki Bradshaw of Johnson City, TN; sister, Jane Pittman of Bakersville and brother, Sam McKinney (Judy) of Bakersville; grandchildren: Selena, Nathan, Gavin, Bella, and Haven; also 9 step grandchildren and  step great granddaughter, Riley Oliver.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Brother G.B. Garland officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by DAV Sgt E.L. Randolph Chapter 57. Interment will follow the service at Edwards Cemetery on Fork Mountain Rd, Bakersville.
