Richard Gary Lewis, 74, of Hughes Gap Rd , Bakersville , NC passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center Saturday, September 16, 2017 . He was born on May 30, 1943 in Marion , NC the son of the late Albert and Edith Fox Lewis.

Gary was an operator at Western Electric Company in Baltimore , MD and also Virginia for thirty years. He was a hard working man who always enjoyed working. You would never find him not busy with a project. His favorite activities were spending time with his animals, being outdoors and taking care of his property.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shelby Street Lewis, brother, Randy Lewis, niece, Angie Moore, two sisters in law, Betty Pendley and Judi Harper, brother in law, Arvell Street , several nieces and nephews, and two great nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Glenda Lewis Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Richard Sparks officiating.
