Richard E. Greene, age 82, of Savannah , passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 after a short illness. He was born February 9, 1935 in Bakersville , NC to Charlie and Pearl McKinney Greene. He left home at 18 to join the Air Force, where he spent the next 21 years of his life, some of it in Vietnam . When he retired he moved back to his wife's home town of Savannah , Ga.

Richard was an outdoors person who loved hunting and fishing in his spare time. While in Savannah he worked as a superintendent with a construction company building many big important churches and schools in Savannah . After 31 years and on his 70th birthday, he hung up his hat.

Richard is survived by: his wife, Kathryn Greene of Savannah; four sons: Richard Jr. (Donna) of Commerce, GA, David Greene of Savannah, Joseph Greene (Angela) of Pooler, Ga, and Robert Greene (Linda) of Flowery Branch, Ga; seven Grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brother, Charles Ray Greene (Mary Ann) of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Sue Woody of Bakersville, NC; 1 niece, Sherry Dixon, and 4 nephews.

Services were held in Savannah, Ga.
