Reed H. Hughes, age 85, of the Buladean Community, Bakersville, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, Spruce Pine, NC. He was the son of the late Geter and Norma Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Hughes; his son, Jimmy Moffitt; brothers, Robert, Paul and Leon Hughes. Reed was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and farming.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Tittle, Diane Holland and Phyllis Harnick; son, Larry Shuffler; sister, Mary Christine Odom; brother, Willard Hughes and a special friend and caregiver, Joann Callahan.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the Hamm Hughes Cemetery, Odoms Chapel Church Road, with Rev. Randy English officiating.
