October 29 ^th , 2016 .  Philip Ellis was called home to heaven personally by God and his Momma to spend eternity.  He lovingly obliged.

If you know anything about him, if there was anything you needed or wanted, he would make sure you had it, even if he didn't have it to give.  There would be a way.  Joyous, loving, full of life & corny jokes - the most faithful man on this earth.  Love of his life - Judith Kates Ellis for almost 60 years before her passing.  Faithful servant to church, family, country & community.   While he served his country for 39 years (4 yrs. Air Force/ 35 Air National Guard- 145 ^th division) his real true mission was to love and bring joy to those around him. He once said – "A soldier's joy has nothing to do with war - it's bringing food and supplies to those who are in need.  That's our real job."

Philip is survived by his children, Kevin Ellis, Leigh Warren, Kara Sheaffer and family; Grandchildren- Ashley Ellis, Dylan Ellis, Emily Warren, Katherine Ellis, Liam Sheaffer, as well as Great Grandchildren- Hunter and Zoey.

He only boasted about one thing: he could eat every potato and pea in the dish.

Visitation: Wednesday, November 2 ^nd from 2-3pm at Pine Branch Baptist Church- Spruce Pine, NC – Service 3pm .  Church address: 48 Church Rd , Spruce Pine , NC 28777 . Full military honors will be provided by Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard.
