Mitzi Yvonne Moffitt, 55, was "serenaded by angels" to her home in Heaven on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from the Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City.
A native and long time resident of Mitchell County, NC, she lived in the Buladean community most of her life, but had resided in Unicoi since 2007.
She was the daughter of the late Toye Moffitt and Georgia H. Moffitt of Unicoi. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her only sibling, Michael "Mike" Moffitt.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Georgia H. Moffitt and an aunt, Joan Honeycutt of Winston Salem, NC and several cousins.
A graduate of East Tennessee State University , she was a former teacher in the Mitchell County School System.
She was a member of Middle District Baptist Church and served as the church pianist. As a soloist, she sang at regular church services and at many special events.
She was very caring and considerate and practiced the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Many will always remember her for her generosity and charitable acts of kindness especially to children and elderly people. Her kindness included being kind to animals as well.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville , NC . The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm officiated by Reverends Scott Jenkins and Bob McCurry. The eulogy will be delivered by Dr. Roger Jenkins. Interment will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Middle District church cemetery.
