Melladeen Hudson

Melladeen M. Hudson, age 83, of Fred Sparks Road, Bakersville, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2026. A cherished native of Mitchell County, NC, Melladeen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Henderson and Mary Ella Dovie Buchanan McKinney.

She devoted many years to her work at Bassett Walker Manufacturing in Bakersville, and was a faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church. Melladeen’s passions included reading and spending treasured time with her children and grandchildren. She embraced life fully, nurturing her family within the church and teaching them about the Lord’s love.

Melladeen was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Hudson; an infant child, Hattie Armene McKinney; her sister, Millie Ann McKinney Greene; and her brother, Macswain McKinney.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children: Judith Lynn Street (Donald) of Bakersville, NC; James Hudson Jr. of Bakersville, NC; and Timothy Dean Hudson (Amy) of Forsyth, GA; her sister, Patty Sue McKinney Buchanan of Candler, NC; six grandchildren: David Street (Chasedy), Caleb, Jacob, Hunter, Kylie, and Autym Hudson; and one step-grandchild, Caylin McQueen.

A funeral service to honor Melladeen’s memory will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at White Oak Baptist Church, with Reverend Andrew McKinney officiating. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green Young Cemetery.
